Mike Dolbear to run second Marathon for Teenage Cancer Trust |
|
Here’s a great chance to win a Zildjian A Custom EFX 18” Crash cymbal, signed by Blink-182’s drummer Travis Barker, and raise a splash of cash for charity too. Mike Dolbear, founder of the drummers’ site mikedolbear.com, will be combining his love of fitness with his support for the Teenage Cancer Trust; a charity that enables young cancer sufferers to be treated in specialist wards which are geared to their specific needs. For the second year, Mike will be running in the Halstead & Essex Marathon on 13th May and everyone who sponsors him will be entered into a draw to win the donated cymbal.
Mike will be taking part in the marathon in memory of Jordan Terris; a talented drummer who lost his battle with cancer in 2007, aged only 15. Mike was also involved in the Jordan Terris Memorial Drum Festival last year. “After watching the Teenage Cancer Trust film at the event” he said, “I wanted to try and do more to help a charity that does such important work. I ran the marathon in Jordan’s honour last May and people were very generous with their sponsorship, donating over £1800. This year I hope to raise even more money for the charity. Travis kindly offered me the cymbal, which he has used with his kit, when I told him that Jordan had been a huge fan. It is a very fitting prize”.
Mike will be running just over 26 miles. To sponsor him, go to http://www.justgiving.com/Mike-Dolbearrun and follow the instructions. Every £2.50 of sponsorship will earn one chance to win, so £25 will earn ten chances. There is no maximum donation. When Mike’s completes the run, Jordan’s mum Fiona will pull a name out of the hat and the lucky winner will receive the cymbal and a pair of sticks. Keep an eye on mikedolbear.com for details of future fund raising events. Information about the Teenage Cancer Trust and its work with young cancer sufferers can be found at http://www.teenagecancertrust.org. |
